Family Mediation
Providing a judgment free space for young people and their families to strengthen their relationships and resolve conflict.
Our family mediation service is for 14-25 year olds and their families who may be experiencing conflict or relationship breakdown. The team is based at our Youth Advice Centre in Brighton and provides a confidential, impartial and non-judgemental space, allowing families to share how they are feeling with a trained mediator.
We have proven results of over 90% of strengthening relationships and reducing the risk of youth homelessness within Brighton and Hove.

At Family Mediation we:
- Provide a safe, confidential space to talk.
- Offer family mediation and/or one-to-one parenting support.
- Conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
- Listen, reflect, and empathise with all situations.
- Support any family make-up.
- Do not take sides or give advice.
How Family Mediation works:
- All support is voluntary, free, and confidential.
- We meet with each person individually with the aim of working towards family sessions.
- We support people to work together to find solutions everyone can agree to.
- Support can be given over the telephone, here in our offices in central Brighton, at school or another location with a young person or during home visits.
Over the past 6 years I have supported many families with children aged 14-17 who have been in crisis within their relationships. Mediation is such an amazing tool, and it really works to help people in conflict resolve issues and move forward. I greatly enjoy being able to assist parents and their children to have these much-needed conversations and I feel very proud to be a part a team who are committed and dedicated to reducing the risk of youth homelessness in Brighton and Hove.
